Heidi Shanus

My name is Heidi Shanus and I have been an educator for over 12 years. While this isn’t my first career, it is definitely my most rewarding (besides being a mother). I earned my Bachelor’s degree in French and Business Administration from Penn State University and worked in the marketing and advertising fields for many years. As a Para educator and reading interventionist, I developed a joy and devotion for teaching while earning my Master’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education certification from Wilmington University. I am excited to be starting my 6^th year here as a Gateway Gladiator, first as a 5^th grade teacher, and currently as an Educational Diagnostician in the Special Education Department. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 children, who are mostly grown but keep coming back. Our latest addition, a Treeing Walker Coonhound that we rescued, has provided some added excitement to our home. I look forward to working with our students and families and helping them achieve success in the classroom and beyond.
